The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public to a phone scam that is generating in the Cattaraugus County Area. Residents are receiving phone calls from Medical Alert System informing the elderly they have won a free alert system. Residents are being asked for personal information to include personal identification, debit and credit card information, social security numbers, address information and more.

You see ambulances on the road all over the county, every day. But do you know that of the 1,000s of ambulance calls handled each year, over half are staffed with VOLUNTEERS??? That's right, that ambulance that just passed you is very likely to have been paid for through fundraisers and the staff inside are volunteers, completely unpaid for their service!

Today is day 5 of National EMS Week 2013. Emergency Services would like to recognize and thank all those dedicated EMS providers and rescue personnel that serve Cattaraugus County every day, 24/7.
It's impossible to imagine where we would be without the hundreds of hardworking volunteers spending countless hours away from their families to train, practice, and respond to help those in need. THANK YOU will never be enough to truly say how much each and every one of you is appreciated!!!
New exhibit open at Cattaraugus County Museum!

There is a new exhibit open at the Cattaraugus County Museum and Research Center. Titled “War is Cruelty; A Sesquicentennial of the Civil War in its Third Year”, the exhibit will run through October 2013.
This exhibit, intended to compliment our summer long series of Civil War related programming, is made possible in large part due to generous loans from private collectors within Cattaraugus County. We hope to see you!

Little Valley, NY – Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announces job opportunities at the County Jail as a Part-Time Corrections Officer. The job responsibilities include guarding and attending to the care, well-being and discipline of jail inmates.
If accepted, 7 weeks of field training are required as well as successful completion of a Corrections Academy. Applicants MUST have availability to perform shift work, various shifts including weekends and holidays, and have flexible hours.
