The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging’s Senior Wellness and Nutrition program is currently in need of Meals on Wheels volunteers in the Salamanca area. The meals are picked up by volunteers at Cattaraugus Community Action, located at 25 Jefferson Street. Most volunteers deliver 7 to 12 meals once per week. It takes about one hour (10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.) to complete a route. Mileage reimbursement is available for volunteers age 55 and over.
If you have ever thought about donating your time to a worthy cause- here is your chance! Delivering Meals on Wheels is a great way to serve your community. This would be an excellent opportunity for area businesses or organizations to serve their community as well!

You see ambulances on the road all over the county, every day. But do you know that of the 1,000s of ambulance calls handled each year, over half are staffed with VOLUNTEERS??? That's right, that ambulance that just passed you is very likely to have been paid for through fundraisers and the staff inside are volunteers, completely unpaid for their service!
Today is day 5 of National EMS Week 2013. Emergency Services would like to recognize and thank all those dedicated EMS providers and rescue personnel that serve Cattaraugus County every day, 24/7.
It's impossible to imagine where we would be without the hundreds of hardworking volunteers spending countless hours away from their families to train, practice, and respond to help those in need. THANK YOU will never be enough to truly say how much each and every one of you is appreciated!!!
There is a new exhibit open at the Cattaraugus County Museum and Research Center. Titled “War is Cruelty; A Sesquicentennial of the Civil War in its Third Year”, the exhibit will run through October 2013.
This exhibit, intended to compliment our summer long series of Civil War related programming, is made possible in large part due to generous loans from private collectors within Cattaraugus County. We hope to see you!
