...High Heat Index Values Continue Across The Area...Heat index values on Sunday and Monday reached the upper 80s tolower 90s with isolated mid 90s on Monday, and these same valueswill be reached today across northern New York and Vermont. Theheat index is a measure of how hot it really feels when relativehumidity is factored in with the air temperature...which will bereaching record levels today. This will create a greaterlikelihood of heat related illnesses...especially when prolongedexposure or strenuous activity takes place in these conditions.Anyone with outdoor activities planned today may be moresusceptible to heat related illnesses...especially if you will beoutdoors for an extended period of time or taking part instrenuous activity. Stay hydrated and take breaks in theshade...check on elderly family or friends who may not have airconditioning...and do not leave kids or pets unattended invehicles.
