...A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT THE LAKESHORE ALONGSOUTHWESTERN ERIE AND NORTHEASTERN CHAUTAUQUA COUNTIES AND ALONGTHE CHAUTAUQUA RIDGE...At 950 AM EST, A band of lake effect snow producing snow fall ratesof 1 TO 2 inches per hour was moving slowly into the Lake Erieshoreline from about Lackawanna South to Westfield. This will moveinland about 5 miles and include portions of the Boston Hills andthe Chautauqua ridge between 10 and 11 AM. Expect little in the wayof wind, but snowflakes will be large. This will allow for fluffybuf brief accumulations.Locations impacted include...Buffalo, Lackawanna, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Hamburg, Evans, Eden,Westfield, Small Boat Harbor and Silver Creek.This includes Interstate 90 between exits 60 and 56.Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter of a mile inthis band of lake effect snow.

...A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT WESTERN WAYNE...NORTHERNMONROE AND NORTHERN ORLEANS COUNTIES...A band of lake effect snow producing snow fall rates of around aninch per hour will remain in place through the wee hours of themorning along the Lake Ontario shore from near Lyndonville eastwardto Kendall...Hilton...Greece...Irondequoit...Webster...and Ontario.Additional accumulations of around 2 inches are expected in thisband before it weakens and moves back north and over the lake after2 AM.Roads will be snow covered and slippery along the lakeshore. Thisincludes the Lake Ontario State Parkway...the north end of Routes390 and 590, and Route 104. Motorists should use caution and allowsome extra time to reach your destination.

...AREAS OF BLACK ICE POSSIBLE THROUGH EARLY MONDAY MORNING...Temperatures will continue to drop through the 20s and into theteens overnight, causing any lingering standing water on roadsand other untreated surfaces to freeze up creating hazardousdriving and walking conditions through early Monday morning.Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...Untreated surfaces may become extremely slippery and offer littleor no traction. Black ice is very difficult to see; a road surfacethat appears just wet may in fact be very icy. Reduced speeds andgreater distance between vehicles is advised.
