...A SNOW SQUALL WILL AFFECT CENTRAL BROOME...SOUTHWESTERNCORTLAND...NORTHEASTERN TIOGA...CENTRAL TOMPKINS AND SOUTHWESTERNCHENANGO COUNTIES...At 1212 AM EST, a snow squall was located along a line extending fromnear Perry City to near Whitney Point. Movement was southeast at 35mph.Though brief, the snow squall will abruptly reduce visibility to ahalf mile and will be accompanied by gusts to 30 mph as well asblowing snow. It will cause a quick coating of several tenths of aninch to a half inch of snow on roadways. Be prepared for slickconditions and rapidly changing visibility.Locations impacted include...Ithaca, Maine, Cayuga Heights, Lansing, Caroline, Sanford, Nanticoke,Deposit, Port Dickinson and Greene.This will also impact Interstate 81 between Marathon and ChenangoBridge.

The cold wind chills willcause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.Expect wind chills to range from 20 below zero to 29 belowzero.* WHERE...The northern Adirondacks and St. Lawrence Valley ofnorthern New York.* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Tuesday.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS....The coldest wind chills will occur latetonight into Tuesday morning. Winds will be from the west around5 mph.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind willcombine to create low wind chills. The heavy snow will last less than an hour, butwill result in very poor visibility and snow covered roads.Locations impacted include...Olcott, Lockport, Lyndonville, Medina, Albion, Brockport, Hilton,Greece, and Bergen.

This band of lake effect snow will then slowly shiftsouth into northern Cayuga and Wayne county through the lateevening hours where it will remain most of the night.Locations impacted include...Oswego, Fulton, Fair Haven Beach State Park, Central Square, MexicoPoint State Park, Nine Mile Point, Battle Island State Park,Brewerton, Hastings and Scriba.This includes Interstate 81 between exits 32 and 35.If traveling into Oswego, northern Cayuga, and Wayne county expectto encounter rapidly changing weather and road conditions. Beprepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extratime when traveling.
