In western New York...Allegany...Cattaraugus...Chautauqua...Livingston...Monroe...Ontario...Southern Erie...Wayne and Wyoming.* From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through this evening.* A very moist airmass will move into western and central New Yorktoday with a potenial for training heavy thunderstorms from thewestern Southern Tier across the Genesee Valley and westernFinger Lakes to the eastern Lake Ontario region. Two to threeinches of rainfall or locally higher amounts within a hour ortwo could bring flash flooding from mid to late afternoon intothis evening.* Urban areas and areas with steep terrain will be mostvulnerable to flash flooding.

...HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE MONDAY AFTERNOON INTOMONDAY NIGHT......FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATEMONDAY NIGHT...The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast New Jersey andsoutheast New York, including the following areas, in northeastNew Jersey, Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Union, and Hudson. Insoutheast New York, Westchester, Orange, Putnam, and Rockland.* From Monday afternoon through late Monday night* Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across thearea Monday afternoon into Monday night in association with aslow moving cold front. These storms have the potential to trainacross the same area, leading to flash flooding.* Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected across the watcharea, with locally higher amounts, especially in any trainingthunderstorms.
