...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THISEVENING...The Flash Flood Watch continues for* The Northern Adirondacks Mountains in New York as well asChittenden, Addison, Lamoille, Washington, Caledonia and OrangeCounties in Vermont.* Until 11 PM EDT this evening* Widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms affected the watcharea earlier this morning, producing rainfall amounts from threequarters of an inch to as much as 2 inches. Additional showersand thunderstorms are affecting the area this afternoon and areexpected to continue into this evening with locally heavyrainfall from 1 to 2 inches possible. Given this forecast andsaturated soils from this morning`s rainfall, the threat offlash flooding continues in the watch area through thisevening.

Movement was east at 25 mph.Locations impacted include...Middlebury, South Burlington, Burlington, Vergennes, Essex, Moriah,Willsboro, Crown Point, Westport, Elizabethtown, Minerva, Salisbury,Schroon Lake, Orwell, Addison, Shoreham, Shelburne, Charlotte,Waltham and Keene Valley.Torrential rainfall is occurring with these showers, and may causelocalized flooding. Numerous locations acrossthis area have reported anywhere from a half inch to just over aninch of rain. Through 900 am this morning another round showersand isolated thunderstorms will move across this area and produceadditional moderate to heavy rainfall. Areas to monitor forlocalized flooding and sharp rises on smaller streams and riversinclude southern Saint Lawrence and Franklin counties of NewYork...and all of Essex county in New York and Chittenden...Addison...Lamoille...and Washington counties in Vermont. If youencounter high water...move to higher ground and never drivethrough flooded roadways.
