Ice jams have been reported along the Great Chazy andbackwater is causing flooding. When the ice releases, any lowlying areas long the Great Chazy will have the potential to seelocal flooding.* Ice jams are very unpredictable and can break up, move and jamagain very quickly. Snowfall rates of asmuch as 1 to 1.5 inches per hour can be expected.Snow covered roads and treacherous travel conditions can beanticipated, including the Interstate 86/Route 17 and Interstate88 corridors, as well as Interstate 81, from the state linenorthward through Cortland, and up to near Syracuse. The afternooncommute is likely to be impacted.Snow should taper off later in the day, generally between 3:30and 5:30 pm.

MONTGOMERY...WINDHAM ANDBENNINGTON COUNTIES...At 203 PM EST, a large area of moderate to heavy snow was locatedover much of eastern New York from around the Mohawk Valley andSaratoga region southward, southern Vermont and westernMassachusetts, including Interstates 90, 88, 87, 787 and 890. Thesnow is causing reduced visibility and snow covered roads.
