...A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT CENTRAL ERIE...SOUTHWESTERNGENESEE AND NORTHERN WYOMING COUNTIES...A band of lake effect snow producing snow fall rates of 3 inches perhour will continue to drift very slowly north toward Buffalo whilecontinuing to impact the Buffalo Southtowns through the afternoon.This band of heavy snow is then expected to drift farther north intothe City of Buffalo during the evening commute. The band alsoextends eastward into Northern Wyoming County and will edge intoSouthwestern Genesee County later this afternoon.Locations impacted include...South Buffalo, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Lackawanna, Depew,Lancaster, Hamburg, Darien Lakes State Park, Elma and Marilla.This includes Interstate 90 between exits 57 and 52A.Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this band ofheavy lake effect snow, as roads are already treacherous south ofBuffalo. There have been numerous accidents due to snow coveredroads and whiteout conditions.
