...HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL AFFECT OSWEGO COUNTY THISEVENING...Heavy snow with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will beacross Oswego county through this evening. In addition, windsgusting to 30 mph will result in areas of blowing snow. Thecombination of heavy snow and blowing snow will lower visibility toa quarter mile at times. Travel will be extremely difficult earlythis evening. Snow will diminish in intensity later this evening,with a modest improvement expected. If possible travel should beavoided or delayed until conditions improve.This includes Interstate 81 between exits 32 and 37.

Several small avalanches have already been reported.Outdoor enthusiasts heading into the back country through theupcoming weekend need to be aware of the avalanche danger and theassociated risks involved. Steep, open slopes will have thehighest potential avalanche risk.If you go into the back country of the Adirondacks Mountains orGreen Mountains to snow shoe, ski, or ice climb, be aware of theavalanche danger and take the appropriate precautions.Avoid avalanche prone areas such as steep, unstable slopes,including vulnerable locations at the bottom of steep terrain.
