...AN AREA OF HEAVY SNOW WILL AFFECT BROOME...NORTHEASTERN CHEMUNG...SOUTHWESTERN CORTLAND...TIOGA...TOMPKINS AND NORTHERN SUSQUEHANNACOUNTIES...At 301 PM EDT, an area of heavy snow was located along a lineextending from near Freeville to near Hallstead. The band of heavysnow southeast of Cayuga Lake will persist through at least 4 pmwith snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour.Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with this area of heavy snowas well and will produce blowing and drifting snow.Locations impacted include...Binghamton, Ithaca, Vestal, Johnson City, Endicott, Barton, Kirkwood,Conklin, Maine and Newfield.Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this area.Currently wet roads may become snow covered in a short period oftime. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads arelikely to lead to accidents.
