...A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT THE BOSTON HILLS ANDPORTIONS OF SKI COUNTRY IN THE WESTERN SOUTHERN TIER...At 820 PM EST, a band of lake effect snow producing snow fall ratesof 2 inches per hour extends along the Chautauqua Ridge fromWestfield to Eden and then inland to Arcade. This band of heavy snowwill continue to gradually move southward late this evening.Meanwhile, the heaviest snow will shift to higher terrain andsnowfall rates decrease along Interstate 90 and along the immediatelakeshore.Locations impacted include...Boston, Springville, Westfield, Gowanda, Arcade, Mayville, Chaffee,Ashford Hollow, East Concord and Chautauqua Institute.

This band will alsoextend inland towards Gowanda and Springville at times.Locations impacted include...Dunkirk, Fredonia, Eden, Springville, Westfield, Gowanda, SilverCreek, and North Collins.This includes Interstate 90 between exits 61 and 58.Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this band ofvery heavy lake effect snow. Motorists can expect very poorvisibility and deep snow cover on roads.

...A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT CENTRAL ERIE COUNTY...At 117 PM EST, An area of lake effect snow producing snow fall ratesof 2 to 3 inches per hour will push inland through downtown Buffaloand Lackawanna through 215 pm. Visibilities will drop quickly toless than a quarter of a mile in this band of lake effect snow. Thisarea of snow will diminish quickly as it moves inland off of LakeErie. Locations near the lake shore may pick up a quick coupleinches of snow, while the eastern Buffalo suburbs may only pick up alight coating.Locations impacted include...Buffalo, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Lackawanna, Depew, Williamsville,Orchard Park, Erie Basin Marina, Small Boat Harbor and Blasdell.This includes Interstate 90 between exits 57 and 50A.Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Beprepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extratime when traveling.

...AN AREA OF HEAVY SNOW WILL AFFECT SOUTHWESTERN ERIE...NORTHWESTERNCATTARAUGUS AND NORTHEASTERN CHAUTAUQUA COUNTIES...At 1140 AM EST, an area of heavy snow was located along the LakeErie shore from just north of Westfield to Hamburg. Snowfall rateswill vary between a half an inch per hour to three inches per houralong the lakeshore. Areas where heavy snowfall rates may occurinclude near Dunkirk and also near Angola and Derby. If drivingalong roads such as route 5, and the NYS Thruway between exits 59and 57A, be prepared for rapid changes in road and drivingconditions.Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter of a mile inthis area of heavy snow.
