Much Warmer Temperatures This Weekend And Into Early Next Week Will Result In Rapid Snowmelt Across The Higher Terrain Of The Tug Hill Plateau And Western Adirondacks. A Large Quantity Of Stored Water Is Still Present Across The Higher Terrain Of The Tug Hill And Western Adirondacks With A Liquid Equivalent Of 5 To 9 Inches. Water Levels On Smaller Creeks And Streams Will Continue To Rise Over The Weekend And Into Early Next Week As Very Warm Temperatures Bring An Almost Complete Melt Of The Remaining Snowpack. Rain Will Arrive Monday Night And Continue Through Tuesday...Which Will Produce Further Runoff And Lead To An Enhanced Risk Of Flooding. The Combination Of Weekend Snowmelt Followed By Rain Early Next Week Will Eventually Result In A Greater Risk Of Flooding Along The Larger Main Stem Rivers. The National Weather Service In Buffalo Has Issued A * Flood Advisory For... The Salmon River In Oswego County In Central New York... * Until 530 PM EDT Sunday * At 515 PM EDT...Officials From Brookfield Power Indicated That They Have Increased The Amount Of Water Being Released From The Reservoir On The Upper Reaches Of The Salmon River. Flow Rates Have Increased From 1800 Cfs To 4500 Cfs. These Rates Are Not Expected To Cause Widespread Flooding...But Those Who Utilize The Lower Portion Of The River To Fish Or For Other Recreational Activities Should Be Alert For The Increased Flow And Avoid The River Until Further Notice. Those With Interests Along The Salmon River Should Continue To Monitor Later Statements Concerning This Situation As There Is The Potential For Even Greater Flow Rates. &&

The Flood Watch Continues For * Northern New York And Much Of Vermont. * Through Wednesday Evening * The Combination Of Mild Temperatures...Rainfall...And Snowmelt Will Keep Most Rivers Running High Through The Period. The Highest Threat Of Flooding Through Sunday Night Will Occur Across Far Northern Watersheds...Such As The Great Chazy...Missisquoi And Lamoille Rivers As Showers And Isolated Thunderstorms Move Across These Areas. A More Widespread Flooding Threat Will Then Develop By Monday Night Into Tuesday As Warm Temperatures And Additional Moderate To Locally Heavy Rainfall Move Into The Region. * At This Time It Appears That Any Flooding On Northern Watersheds Through Sunday Night Is Likely To Be Minor Field And Road Flooding.
