Rain showers are slowly moves out of the area this evening but inits wake are snow showers. Temperatures are falling fairly rapidlyand are expected to fall into the low to mid 20s by sunriseSunday. Snow accumulations are expected to range from a trace totwo inches through sunrise. The combination of wet roadways fromrain showers earlier today, falling temperatures, and current andforecast snow may make roads and bridges very hazardous. Takeextreme caution while driving, ice will be very hard to see atnight and will make travel very dangerous.

...Periods of moderate to heavy snow will continue through 9 PM...Across mainly higher elevations of the western Adirondacks,eastern Catskills, Helderbergs, and Schoharie County, bursts ofmoderate to heavy snow and sleet will continue through 9 PM,producing a quick 1 to 3 inches of accumulations, except possiblyhigher across portions of Herkimer County.Rain will also change to snow within the western Mohawk Valley,where a quick coating to 2 inches could occur as well.Occasional rumbles of thunder will also be possible.Motorists should be prepared to encounter snow covered andslippery roadways, especially across higher elevations above 1200feet.
