It will move across the New York Thruway corridorincluding the greater Syracuse and Utica metro areas.* A quick couple inches of snow are likely within this band, andvisibility will drop to less than a quarter of a mile in this snowsquall.Locations impacted include...Onondaga, Syracuse, Utica, Clay, Rome, Cicero, De Witt, Lysander,Sullivan and Van Buren.Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this dangeroussnow squall. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roadsare likely to lead to accidents. Snow rates will be highlyvariable, but could occasionally reach 2 inches per hour. Snowfallamounts may approach 6 inches in hardest hit areas by mid eveningeast of Rochester.Travelers along the Thruway from about Phelps to Weedsport shouldbe prepared for variable conditions later this afternoon into theevening, with with wet roadways quickly becoming snow packed withminimal visibility at times. Be prepared for rapidly changingconditions.
