...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAYMORNING...The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a* Flood Watch for all of eastern New York excluding the westernAdirondacks, for northwestern Connecticut, westernMassachusetts, and southern Vermont.* From Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning* Rainfall amounts of three quarters of an inch to an inch and aquarter along with snowmelt on Tuesday may be enough todislodge river ice which would then move downstream andpotentially jam at preferred locations. Areas in the riverchannels which are most prone to ice jam flooding includeobstructions in the channel such as islands, locks, bridge piersand docks; changes in the channel such as narrowing of thechannel, bends, gorges and intact ice cover; change in channeldepth from deep water to shallow water; and merger of riverchannels.
