...A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT LEWIS...SOUTHERN JEFFERSONAND NORTHEASTERN OSWEGO COUNTIES...At 1047 AM EST, A band of lake effect snow producing snow fall ratesof 1 TO 2 inches per hour extended from Chaumont to Philadelphia onthe northern end and from Sandy Creek to Lowville on the southernend.This band of snow will remain nearly stationary into the earlyafternoon, while getting better organized with snowfall rates likelyincreasing further. Visibilities will be reduced to less than aquarter mile at times.Locations impacted include...Watertown, Fort Drum, Sandy Island Beach State Park, Carthage,Lowville, West Carthage, Adams, Dexter, Glen Park and Herrings.This includes Interstate 81 between exits 37 and 48.Conditions in the above locations will continue to deteriorate as wemove into the early afternoon hours. Travel will become increasinglydifficult as snow cover increases on area roads. If you must travelin areas from Watertown to Lowville be prepared for severe winterweat
