...INCREASING SNOWFALL RATES...At 2:00 PM EST, a band of heavy snow will slowly move to the eastacross Long Island and southwest Connecticut.Snowfall rates of 1-3 inches per hour will occur at times withthis band.Winds in excess of 50 mph are possible within this band, causingsome downed tree and possibly wires as well.Visibilities may drop to near zero at times, producing whiteoutconditions.Travel is not recommended this afternoon.

This band hasbeen nearly stationary over the last hour.Snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour will occur at times.Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible in this band, causing somedowned tree limbs and possibly wires as well.Visibilities may drop to a quarter of a mile or less at times,producing occasional blizzard conditions.Travel is not recommended.

Movement wasnorthwest at 20 mph.Snowfall rates will range between 1 and 3 inches per hour at times.Locations impacted include...Pittsfield, Poughkeepsie, Beacon, Great Barrington, Sherman, Pawling,Hyde Park, Pleasant Valley, Lee, Wappingers Falls, Lenox, Amenia,Copake, Sheffield, Cheshire, Kent, Sharon, Highland, Pine Plains andFishkill.Visibilities will drop quickly to near zero in this area of heavysnow.
