There will be a rabies clinic held at the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works garage in Little Valley on January 4, 2014 from 9:00 am to Noon.
Rabies Vaccinations are required for ALL cats, dogs and domesticated ferrets by FOUR months of age (but not less than 12 weeks).
Cats and dogs are given a booster one year later and every three years thereafter. Ferrets must be vaccinated annually.

There will be an open mic December 30th at 7 p.m. at the Olean Public Library. Reading will be the winners of the Friends of the Library Poetry contest(if you know high school students in local schools encourage them to submit their work for cash prizes) and writers from the MHA workshop.
If you've get a poem or two tucked away in your journal, c'mon down.
Tom Krampf will be reading poems on November 7th at 7 p.m. at the Olean Public Library. Tom's Selected Poems is out from Salmon Poetry in Ireland. Also, Tom is retiring after running the literary program at the library for 30 years.

Just a reminder that a workshop on haiku and haibun will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Olean Public Library. Carolyn Dancy and Michael Ketchek will conduct the workshop.
Someone asked me why haiku? Who I could do hours on this. It changed American poetry and gave rise to imagism the dominant style of the 20th century.
A haiku seizes the moment, hones description, finds meaning in the outside world, sharpens perception and can form the basis for longer poems.
