Steve has been growing switchgrass and reed canary grass as bio-fuel. He uses (burns) the home grown
energy to run a corn dryer on his farm. He will be speaking on his experience Marketing, Utilizing, and
Growing grass as a Bio-Fuel.
Bio-Diesel the Facts and More!! (limit 20 people per session)
Pioneer Central School
In this workshop you will understand the facts of the bio-diesel industry and you will also learn how to
make Bio-diesel from new vegetable oil and used vegetable oil. This lesson is useful in many areas of agriculture
and you will receive recipes to use at home and in your classroom to make demonstrations for
your students. You will also receive a classroom kit on the lesson that you can take with you. At the end of
the workshop you will have the knowledge to make your own Bio-diesel at home!
Portable Sawmills -Advantage or Disadvantage for Land Owners? (limit 30 people per session)
CCE Community Educator/ Portable Sawmill Owner
This workshop will provide an in depth overview of the operational costs, income possibilities, and practical
uses associated with owning a portable sawmill. Direct examples of efficient homeowner sawmill operations
will be provided along with examples of the disposal and uses of sawmill byproducts such as saw
dust, slab lumber, and bark peelings. Workshop will consist of an indoor presentation followed by outdoor
session with entry level portable sawmill.
The Basics of Solar and Wind Energy

This workshop will include the economics, feasibility, sizing systems, working with the local utility, where to
find information, government incentive programs and an overview of some actual installations.

All four workshops will be given in both sessions 1 and 2. Workshops
are limited in the number of participants. On the registration to the
right indicate your order of preference for workshops. Workshops
will be filled by the order paid registrations are received.
