Disaster Operations Center opened due to States of Emergency
Update: As of December 7, 2010 these roads are no longer closed.
The Cattaraugus County Office of Emergency Services is operating a Disaster Operations Center as a result of localized regional flooding. In cooperation with the National Weather Service, the Office of Emergency Services is closely monitoring the situation throughout Cattaraugus County.
A State of Emergency has been declared for the Village of Allegany and the Town of Portville.
Several state roads are currently closed:
Rt 305 South in Portville to the state line,
Rt. 417 Eastbound and Westbound at the Portville underpass, and
Exit 23 Westbound Exit Ramp of Interstate 86 Town of Carrollton.
Rt. 417 between the Olean City line and Westons near Mastel Ford.
Also closed are the following Cattaraugus County roads and local roads:
County Road 26 – Gile Hollow in the Town of Hinsdale,
County Road 60 in the Town of Allegany – West River Rd/ South Nine Mile - ½ mile west of Klice Cross Rd. , and
County Road 30 – Chipmonk Road in the Town of Allegany.
Maple Ave in the Village of Allegany from 2nd Street to 1st Street.
Union Street in the Village of Allegany from 5th Street to 1st Street
East River Road in the Town of Olean from Steam Valley Road to the city line.
Smith Road in the Town of Portville
Steam Valley Road in the Town of Portville from the bridge to Linn Road
1st Street in the Village of Allegany from Main Street to Pine Street
Chapen Cross Road to Pine Street in Allegany
Emergency Services in conjunction with the American Red Cross has opened three shelter locations:
Portville Central School for any residents that need to evacuate their home. Residents should enter the school at the south side gym/cafeteria and use the access road off Elm Street going around the back of the building.
Town of Olean Fire Department at 1297 Old Rock City Hill Road, Olean NY by the Olean Fire Department..
St. Bonaventure University at St. Francis Hall.
