Gowanda Chamber to Celebrate Gowanda's Spirit
The annual Spirit of Gowanda Dinner, sponsored by the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce will be held on Saturday, March 27th at the American Legion in Gowanda. The evening will begin with a social hour at 5:30, followed by a catered dinner at 6:30.
This year, the Chamber, (departing from the usual Spirit format honoring individuals and businesses for outstanding contributions to the community) will instead CELEBRATE the immense SPIRIT that permeated the village in the days following the August 2009 flood.
“The Volks”, will entertain with musical selections following the dinner catered by the Mustard Seed Restaurant of South Dayton. Master of Ceremonies, Steve Cocca, overseeing the many festivities of the evening, will introduce an interesting video of the aftermath of the August 2009 flood.
New to the dinner this year, will be a “live” auction with auctioneer, Doug Nosel of Jamestown. Items to be auctioned include donations from many businesses, some a part of the Amish Trail. Restaurants, bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, and shops are among the many who have provided special offers to entice the dinner patrons to place a bid. Many other auction items, as well as the theme baskets, can be viewed in the window near the Chamber office at 49 West Main Street. Sealed bids are being accepted at the Chamber office prior to the dinner. Bids can be placed whether or not the bidder is attending the dinner. Funds raised will be used to benefit the Chamber’s outreach to the business community.
Tickets are $30.00 and can be purchased at the Chamber office through Monday, March 22. The Chamber office is open from 10 to 2, or call Lin at 532-2834.
