A new exhibit, “The Art and Artistry of Norman Maffei” is now open at the Cattaraugus County Museum.  Mr. Maffei, a Franklinville native, has been an active artist for over seven decades.  A WWII veteran, Maffei was once considered as a replacement for famous Army artist Bill Mauldin as a cartoonist for the 45th “Division News”.  Mr. Maffei’s service during the war as well as his time in the Merchant Marines served as inspiration for his art, as evidenced by much of the work featured in this exhibit.  The museum is displaying several of his WWII drawings, cartoons, soldier sketches, paintings, as well as some of Mr. Maffei’s maritime art.  This exhibit will run through August 2010.A display at the Norman Maffei Art Exhibit
