News from Economic Development, Planning and Tourism, Posted on Fri, 02/04/2011 - 2:31pm

Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning & Tourism announces the new Visitor’s Activities Guide is now available for distribution. This exciting new guide highlights the multitude of activities and attractions our county offers all year-round while spotlighting our assets and the unique experiences that await visitors.

Preparations for the guide were done in-house by the staff of the Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism. It was then sent to Anne Conroy-Baiter of Green Pear Press, for design and prepress preparations. Anne’s design is new and fresh with a contemporary look that highlights the many activities visitors and residents can find to do here in the Enchanted Mountains of Cattaraugus County.

According to Roger Brooks of Destination Development, Inc., “Always promote the experience (the activity) and THEN the approximate location; visitors are looking for things to do and learn.” With this insight in mind, the guide was developed to showcase experiences that one can participate in or watch while in Cattaraugus County.

The guide was printed by Kenyon Press, Inc., Sherburne, NY. Paul DeMarco, Sales Director at Kenyon, stated “I love the way it looks. The usage of larger photos and stylish type fonts gives the guide a sense of elegance. It reads more like a travel magazine than your standard mishmash of pictures and ads.”

The 2011 Activities Guide contains 48 pages of assets, activities, listings and advertisements while highlighting the year around destination our county has become. Many colorful photographs have been used that portray the uniqueness of our gorgeous county as well as the tremendous variety of activities that we offer. The guide emphasizes the plethora of different experiences our county offers that help round out the visitor’s stay here.

Stapled inside the guide is our extensive county map that was created in-house. It highlights trails for hiking, biking and snowmobiling; hunting and fishing spots while also showing some of the tremendous assets we have. The back of the map contains the Calendar of Events as well as a section for the festivals and events hosted throughout the county and a section on shopping, dining, relaxing and staying.

Distribution of the county’s guide is quite extensive, being done by staff and distribution services to the Greater Buffalo/Niagara area, Binghamton Gateway Center, Chautauqua County and McKean and Warren Counties in PA. Thousands of guides are also disseminated at over 20 travel and trade shows that are attended on a regional basis as well as local shows, fairs, festivals and events.
