Android Parcel Viewer

Finally, the power of the Cattaraugus County Parcel Viewer is available on your Android device!

We are happy to release the first version of a mobile Parcel Viewer to the Android community.  More and more these days we find ourselves turning to smart phones and tablets instead of the traditional desktop computers and laptops.  As technology advances, our GIS operation must advance to.  Finally having a mobile version of the Parcel Viewer is very exciting.  Tasks once thought to be far-fetched are now possible.  A mobile GIS can offer so many things to its users:

-Being able to use the GPS on your phone to locate yourself on our viewer, find what parcel you're standing in, and get all it's Real Property information.

-Using the GPS feature on the mobile viewer to make sure you are staying on your property, for example, if out hunting.  The user can even turn on an aerial photography basemap, and watch themselves walk across it.

We are only just discovering the uses of this new mobile technology.  The mobile Parcel Viewer is just the beginning.  In development now we have maps that allow users to edit data on their phones to share with the community.  For example, a tourism map that will allow users to open up our application, drop a point on the map, even take a picture with their phone to attach to that point.  All to share with everyone else who has our maps on their mobile device.  In case you missed it, the mobile Parcel Viewer is also available for iOS devices.

Rest assured however, those of you who religiously use the traditional Parcel Viewer.  We are in no way slowing down our improvement efforts on that system.  In fact, in a very short amount of time, we will be releasing the Parcel Viewer 1.0.  It features much faster load times, a simpler and quicker layer control interface, and a totally redesigned identify feature that allows users to simply click on features at anytime without having to open a tool.
