The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging’s Senior Wellness and Nutrition (SWAN) program needs your help. During the winter months we have an increased need for people to deliver home meals and at the same time, our program has a smaller pool of volunteers to help.

We are currently looking for volunteers at each of our nutrition sites, but the most immediate need is in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Gowanda, Little Valley, West Valley, Randolph, and the Olean area. These sites are generally open Monday through Friday. Most volunteers deliver 5 to 10 meals once a week and it takes about one hour (10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.) to complete a route.

The purpose of the Senior Wellness and Nutrition program is to maintain independence, delay or prevent nursing home placement, and improve or maintain current health status of the homebound participants. Without volunteers, the delivery of meals would be impossible.

For more information and/or to sign up to volunteer during this critical time, please call David Rodkey, Retired Senior Volunteer Program Coordinator, at (716) 373-8032 or (800) 462-2901.
