Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office Host to Volunteer Fire Police School
Sheriff Whitcomb proudly announces 63 local fire department members completed a Fire Police Training School over the weekend. The training was hosted by the Sheriff’s Office and instructed by Lt. David Schuman and Training Coordinator, Christa Heckathorn. During the 21 hour course, participants received instruction covering the Fire Service, Legal Issues for Fire Police, Vehicle and Traffic Laws, Personal Protective Equipment, Flagger Training, and Safety/Traffic Management. To successfully complete the training, all participants were required to pass a written test and demonstrate skills during a mock-scenario.
Sheriff Whitcomb and the Sheriff’s Office congratulate participants and would like to thank our Fire Police for their hard work keeping our Emergency Responders and Law Enforcement member’s safe while at a scene. Sheriff Whitcomb says “It is the cooperation, coordination and communication between agencies that is key.”
Participating Fire Companies included: Gowanda, Allegany, Trumansburg, Machias, Langford-New Oregon, Coldspring, AIRVFD, Ischua, East Otto, Humphrey, Leon, Westons Mills, Franklinville, Celoron, Delevan, Perrysburg, Mortons Corners, Great Valley, Farmersville, and South Dayton.
