Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week

July 13-19, 2014 is Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week in the County of Cattaraugus.

By the Chairman of the Cattaraugus County Legislature

WHEREAS, the safety and well-being of the families and communities of Cattaraugus County are of the utmost concern and importance to our citizens; and

WHEREAS, Cattaraugus County maintains a system for defendants and offenders to be supervised in their communities while on pretrial supervision or on probation or parole as a direct result of a sentence to probation, or after being released from incarceration to community supervision; and

WHEREAS, pretrial, probation and parole services officers are charged with the duty of helping to preserve the safety of the citizens of Cattaraugus County by maintaining contact with defendants and offenders, supervising their behavior, ensuring their strict adherence to mandated conditions including appearance in court, and ensuring their prompt arrest for non-compliance of probation or pretrial conditions; and

WHEREAS, County corrections professionals work in partnership with community agencies and groups to promote prevention, intervention and advocacy; and

WHEREAS, County corrections professionals provide services, support and .protection for victims, and advocate community and restorative justice; and

WHEREAS, County corrections professionals are a true Force for Positive Change throughout Cattaraugus County;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Norman L. Marsh, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Chairman of the Cattaraugus County Legislature, do hereby proclaim July 13-19, 2014 as Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week in the County of Cattaraugus and encourage all citizens to honor these County corrections professionals and to recognize their achievements.
