Instructor Development Course Graduates

Cattaraugus County Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb Announces Instructor Development Course Graduates

Little Valley, NY – Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announces the graduation of 23 local law enforcement professionals from an Instructor Development Course. This 80 hours course prepared by the Division of Criminal Justice Services assists instructor candidates in developing their ability to research, prepare and communicate that knowledge to others. Emphasis is placed on the development and competency in practical and tested instructional skills and techniques required for productive and efficient training results. Each participant gained experience by giving five presentations before the group where they were critiqued and training techniques were provided to enhance their classroom presence. The class was facilitated by Training Coordinator/Master Instructor Christa Heckathorn.

Participants included:

·         Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office: Deputy John Bennett, Detective Melanie Easton and Sgt. Brandon Walters

·         Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office – Correction Officer Peter Dorman and Correction Officer Matthew Stuczynski

·         Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office – Sgt. Matthew Heim and Sgt. Erik Tamol

·         Allegany County Sheriff’s Office – Dispatcher Jaime Dennis, Correction Officer Kimberlie Reynolds, Sgt. Craig Cornell and Corporal Jason Morse

·         New York State Police – Trooper Thomas James, Trooper John Spencer, Trooper Christopher Lathrop, and Trooper Kyle Folts

·         Alfred Police Department – Patrolman Dylan Burch

·         NYS University Police Alfred – Officer Ian Hodkin and Officer Melinda Rounds

·         NYS Office of Mental Health Police Buffalo Psychiatric Center – Safety Officer Elroy Jones

·         Cattaraugus County Probation Department – Christopher Giermek and Christopher Woodring

·         Chautauqua County Probation Department – Jordan Woleen

·         And, New York City Department of Corrections, Emergency Service Unit – Corrections Officer Alexander Rosier
