Social Services' April 2015 Employment Report: 28 people employed
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is pleased to report twenty-eight people, who were receiving public assistance benefits, are now employed thanks to the efforts of department staff.
Social Services staff report that in April 2015, 28 county residents received training, work experience and a chance to get high school equivalency diplomas when necessary. These Social Services clients were assisted by department staff in order to help them enter the workforce to reduce or eliminate their need for public assistance.
Staff also assist clients with soft skills such as proper work place conduct, punctuality and other areas that impact successful job placement and retention.
Twenty five different employers from all parts of the county partnered with the department to bring the new employees on board. Nine of the individuals found full time work. This resulted in 4 families closing their temporary assistance cases and several others whose benefits will be reduced due to their new earnings.
“Self-sufficiency is the name of the game,” said Social Services Commissioner Dan Piccioli. “Our staff is very committed to our mission of assisting people in getting back into the labor market.”
