Education Session on GRANTS.GOV
An education session for municipalities, fire departments and organizations in Cattaraugus County on the registration process to be eligible to apply for Federal grant funding will be hosted on Thursday March 10th at 6:30 pm, by the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning & Tourism. It will be held at the Legislative Chambers of the Cattaraugus County Center at 303 Court Street in Little Valley.
Grants.gov is the central storehouse for information on over 1,000 grant programs and approximately $500 billion in annual awards from 26 grant-making federal agencies. To be eligible to apply for Federal Grant funding, an agency or organization must register with Grants.gov. The total time required to complete organization applicant registration can take up to 4 weeks, or longer in some cases. Any organization that wishes to apply for Federal grants, cooperative agreements or other forms of Federal financial assistance through Grants.gov must have certain information ready for the registration process.
“There are many Federal grant opportunities available through the Grant.gov system. However, to be eligible, municipalities, fire departments, and other organizations have to complete an extensive registration process. Registering to apply for grants on Grants.gov includes several steps and types of registration, including DUNS, SAM.gov, and Grants.gov accounts. The training session being offered by our department will walk agencies through the Organization Registration processes and provide the checklist of information needed for completion of the applicant registration,” explains Crystal Abers, Director of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism.
The training will be provided by Kate O’Stricker, Development Specialist with the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism. Please RSVP for this educational session by March 7st, 2016 to Kate O’Stricker at (716) 938-2320 or email: kmostricker [at] cattco [dot] org.
