Attention Cattaraugus County HEAP Customers
Applications for the 2016-2017 Heap Season will be accepted starting November 14th at the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services. Heap interviews will be taken on a walk-in basis, Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 3:00. If you are required to have an interview, you may have your interview conducted over the phone if you are unable to come into the office for a face-to-face, and this agency has received a completed Heap application. You may be eligible to mail in your application, without an interview, if you received Heap benefits last year.
Please let the receptionist know that you have an emergency when you call or walk in. If you have a Heating Equipment emergency, you can apply for that service effective November 7th, and a face-to-face interview must be conducted. To call with general questions, request an application, or to report an emergency, you must call one of the following numbers:
- *If your last name begins with A-J, call 716-701-3773
- *If your last name begins with K-P, call 716-701-3774
- *If your last name begins with Q-Z, call 716-701-3781

You may contact that agency at 716-701-8032 or toll free at 1-800-462-2901 for more information on how to apply and the days/hours of operation. New Yorkers can go online to myBenefits.ny.gov and, by answering a few questions, quickly find out if they may be eligible for Heap, and if so, can file a HEAP application on-line.
Outreach services will also be provided by the Dept. of Social Services by going to your local library and picking up an application to complete and either file by mail, fax, or in person at 1 Leo Moss Drive, Olean, NY 14760.
