As the water recedes from last week’s rains, farmers are now left to deal with the aftermath of damaged crops. There are immediate concerns for crops already harvested and future concerns for crops yet to be harvested. In each case, farmers should try to segregate storage flooded crops from unaffected crops.
State Parks encourages the public to participate in the planning efforts for Allegany State Park and welcomes all comments. Because of interest in Allegany State park throughout all of Western New York, there will be two meetings scheduled.
Allegany State Park was named one of the top 100 "Amazing Spots" by Reserve America. Reserve America provides camping reservations for all campground facilities in the New York State Parks system as well as in 48 other states.
In honor of this designation, Allegany Regional Director Michael Mieczinkowski was joined by Allegany Region Commission Chair Dalton Burgett and Western District Director Mark Thomas in presenting Red House Area Manager Gary Quattrone and Quaker Area Manager Joe Rychick with a plaque recognizing this designation.
Little Valley - Nine area snowmobile clubs that maintain trails in Cattaraugus County will benefit from annual snowmobile registration fees collected by New York State. New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation recently awarded Cattaraugus County, the municipal sponsor, $122,050.00 in funding to help improve and maintain the over 400 miles of funded snowmobile trails in Cattaraugus County.
