New York State Health Commissioner Orders Stop to Sale of Synthetic Marijuana

The sale of synthetic marijuana products in New York State is to cease immediately  per NYS Health Commissioner Nirav R. Shah, M.D., M.P.H.

The order states, "synthetic cannabinoids have been linked to severe adverse reactions, including death and acute renal failure, and commonly cause: tachycardia (increased heart rate); paranoid behavior, agitation and irritability; nausea and vomiting; confusion; drowsiness; headache; hypertension; electrolyte abnormalities; seizures; and syncope (loss of consciousness).

Garbage Fee Increases at Cattaraugus County Transfer Stations

The fee to dispose of garbage at Cattaraugus County transfer stations will increase effective March 1, 2012. The price to throw away household garbage will rise to $1.50 per 15 gallon garbage bag (tall white kitchen bag) or equivalent; $3.00 per 30 gallon bag (regular brown or green bag) or equivalent; and $6.00 per 55 gallon bag (contractor bag).

The fee increase will not affect the cost to dispose of bulky materials such as chairs, mattresses, rugs, and etc. which are charged $5 each, or construction and demolition debris which is charged $20 per cubic yard.

On September 26, 2009, The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding possible human remains being discovered in the Allegany Reservoir off the West Perimeter Road near Bone Run Road, Town of South Valley, Cattaraugus County, New York.

Office of Emergency Services Temporary Move

Cattaraugus County Office of Emergency Services has temporarily moved!

Until further notice we can be found at the Department of Public Works building, 8810 Rt 242 in Little Valley, NY.  The temporary office can be found across the hall from the Records Retention Center.  Our phone numbers and e-mail addresses remain unchanged.
