The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police have for years operated under a “closest car” concept when it came to dispatching.   When a 911 call rings into the Sheriff’sDispatchCenter, the nearest available unit, regardless of agency, is identified and sent to the call.

2014 Activities Guide Cover for Cattaraugus County, the Enchanted Mountains

Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning & Tourism recently unveiled the new 2014 Activities Guide. This exciting new guide offers 56 pages of "Things To Do" to entice visitors here and to keep them entertained while they're here.

Cattaraugus County's Tourism Team assembled information for the piece and turned it over to Deb Engel, Senior Art Director with e8-creative for graphic design ideas. Kenyon Press acted as printer for the guide and printed 100,000 copies of the guide.

The Cattaraugus County Legislator along with the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning & Tourism would like to take the time to hold an informational session for Cattaraugus County Businesses. We are inviting all the County Businesses to come and express their needs and concerns; and to also find out what ways we, the County, can support their efforts.

Take Care in Cold Weather

The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services reminds area residents to take extra precautions while battling the cold this winter.

Make sure space heaters used around the house are approved for indoor use.  Take time to ensure smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are in proper working order. 

Avoid sleeping with your infant.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff Alerts Public to Phone Scam

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public to a phone scam that is generating in the Cattaraugus County Area.  Residents are receiving phone calls from Medical Alert System informing the elderly they have won a free alert system.  Residents are being asked for personal information to include personal identification, debit and credit card information, social security numbers, address information and more.

Unique to this scam it is a repeat scam that tends to call 4 or 5 times over, unlike most where you usually receive one call and it stops.  Reside
