The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging held its Twentieth (20th) Annual Senior Forum and Public Hearing at Ellicottville Central School on August 21, 2014. Breakfast and lunch were provided by the department’s Senior Wellness and Nutrition program. Approximately 125 seniors attended the event.
During the public hearing portion of the event, Director Cathy Mackay reviewed the programs and services that were provided to Cattaraugus County seniors during the previous year. She also discussed future trends in programming and funding.
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is pleased to announce the completion of another very successful Summer Youth Employment Program in which, a record number of youth were served. This summer, Department of Social Services staff assisted 164 area youth from communities across Cattaraugus County.

The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is proposing to amend its Child and Family Services Plan 2014, Annual Plan Update.
Cattaraugus County DSS is proposing to mandate that Legally-Exempt Family Child Care providers that provide on average 30 or more hours of care per week participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) as a condition of providing child care services to families in receipt of child care subsidies.
On Monday, September 29th, 2014, the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning & Tourism is hosting the first of three Open Forums on initial goals of the comprehensive plan that will guide the future of Cattaraugus County. It will be held at the Cutco Theater on the JCC Campus in Olean, 260 North Union Street. Additional open houses will be held on Thursday, October 2nd, at the Randolph Town Hall, and on Tuesday, October 7th, at the County Center Building in Little Valley. All three Open Forums will begin at 6:30 pm.

Little Valley – On September 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its ninth opportunity in four years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to the sites listed below.
