There will be a rabies clinic held at the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works garages in Markhams, Franklinville and Allegany. This rabies clinic will be open from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Please see the flyer for specific dates and locations.
June 15 was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched on June 15, 2006 by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations. The purpose of WEAAD is to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older persons by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic and demographic processes affecting elder abuse and neglect.
Nineteen people, who were receiving public assistance benefits, are now employed, thanks to the efforts of Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services staff.
The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) announced their Outstanding Volunteer Community Contribution Award recipients before a gathering of more than 300 people at the 42nd Annual Retired Senior Volunteer Recognition Reception held in May at the Great Valley Banquet Hall. This year the RSVP Advisory Council selected volunteers Stella Balcerzak and Beverly Miller.
