Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb and the members of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate the 60th Session of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy upon their graduation from the basic course for police officers. Eight Cattaraugus County residents completed the Basic Course for Police Officers academy training, which began in August 2014 and concluded April 30, 2015 at graduation.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office is seeking candidates for the position of Registered Professional Nurse to be filled on a part time basis.
The incumbent provides nursing care to mentally ill and emotionally disturbed inmates; leads prescribed individual or group therapy sessions as part of specific therapeutic procedures; dispenses prescribed medications and generally observes inmates to detect abnormal behavior patterns.
The successful applicant must possess a license and current certification to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is pleased to report twenty-eight people, who were receiving public assistance benefits, are now employed thanks to the efforts of department staff.
Social Services staff report that in April 2015, 28 county residents received training, work experience and a chance to get high school equivalency diplomas when necessary. These Social Services clients were assisted by department staff in order to help them enter the workforce to reduce or eliminate their need for public assistance.
Day after day correctional officers throughout Cattaraugus County enter places where most citizens never want to go –county jail. Behind those locked doors and bars live inmates who broke laws and threatened society, in some cases violently and with no remorse.
Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development is in preparations for the 8th Annual OnoFest being held Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Onoville Marina, 8 miles south of Exit 17 off I 86 on West Perimeter Road, Steamburg, NY.
OnoFest is a one day event that will start at 12:00 pm and run to 9:30 p.m. It is a family oriented event scheduled to have arts; crafts; food; games and contests for the young and old alike; bands throughout the day with a grand finale of fireworks at dusk! There is no rain date for this event, it will be held rain or shine.
