FREE 2 day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Join us for this FREE Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on November 17th and 18th at St. Bonaventure University. Each day is from 8-4 located at the University Club House (second floor of the Hickey Dining Hall)

Participants receive certification in the Suicide Intervention Model which consists of identifying and responding to people in immediate risk of suicide.

The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is pleased to announce the placement of 30 individuals receiving cash assistance into permanent employment positions in the month of September.

The Employment Unit at the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services works with agency staff and community partners to assist in the transition of able bodied working adults receiving public assistance in moving toward self-sufficiency by assisting with job search, resume building and interviewing skills.

We will be creating a guide that accentuates our major assets and the attractions and events that make Cattaraugus County an exciting place to visit and showcases the total four-season experience you can have here in The Enchanted Mountains. There will be production of about 125,000 copies.  All advertising must be for tourism-related businesses and events that are family-friendly.

Little Valley, NY – Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announces the graduation of 23 local law enforcement professionals from an Instructor Development Course. This 80 hours course prepared by the Division of Criminal Justice Services assists instructor candidates in developing their ability to research, prepare and communicate that knowledge to others.

Legislator Earl McElfresh presenting at the Dept. of Aging's 2014 Senior Forum

The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging held its Twentieth (20th) Annual Senior Forum and Public Hearing at Ellicottville Central School on August 21, 2014.  Breakfast and lunch were provided by the department’s Senior Wellness and Nutrition program. Approximately 125 seniors attended the event.

During the public hearing portion of the event, Director Cathy Mackay reviewed the programs and services that were provided to Cattaraugus County seniors during the previous year. She also discussed future trends in programming and funding.
