Seat Belt Mobilization Enforcement Detail

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office announces that they will be taking part in the Seat Belt Mobilization Enforcement detail from May 21 to June 3, 2018.  Due to a grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the Sheriff’s Office will be able to provide extra patrols throughout the county, enforcing seat belt, child safety seat and other traffic laws.  The Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone traveling through our county to keep our roadways safe.

Bridge Closure Notice: Leon Bridge No. 7

The Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works will be closing Leon Bridge No. 7 located on County Road 6 (Leon Road) between Bailey Hill Road and Kysor Hill Road in the Town of Leon.  This closure will begin on Monday, May 21, 2018 and will remain closed for approximately 5 months.  An off-site detour will be posted for vehicular traffic.

The sale of tobacco products to minors (under 18) is a violation of NYS Public Health Law, Article 13-F: Regulation of Tobacco Products and Herbal Cigarettes; Distribution to Minors.  Additionally, the Cattaraugus County Legislature recently passed a local law prohibiting the sale of tobacco and nicotene containing products to anyone under the age of twenty-one (21).

Road Closure Notice: County Road 24 (Abbotts Road)

The Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works will begin construction activities on County Road 24 (Abbotts Road) in the towns of Franklinville and Lyndon between Chestnut Street in the Village of Franklinville and County Road 47 (Lyndon Road) in the Town of Lyndon on Monday, May 7, 2018 for approximately four (4) months.

Portions of this roadway will be periodically closed for construction activities, which will include some overnight closures. 

An off-site detour will be posted for vehicular traffic during closures.
