There will be a rabies clinic held at the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works garage in Little Valley.  This rabies clinic will be open from 9 am to noon on May 7, 2016.

The 5th Annual Cattaraugus County Farmer-Neighbor Dinner on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the West Valley Fire Hall, 9091 Route 240, West Valley, NY will be hosted by the Cattaraugus County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, along with the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism, the Cattaraugus County Farm Bureau, the Cattaraugus County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board.

Warning of IRS Call Scam

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to its residents about scam artists reportedly posing as IRS employees.

The scam begins with a resident receiving a call from someone reporting to be an agent of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The caller informs the resident they owe money to the IRS and demands it be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest or suspension of a business or driver’s license.

ZIKA VIRUS FACTS

Zika virus disease is a mosquito-borne disease caused by Zika virus (ZIKV) which causes in general a mild febrile illness with maculo-papular rash.  There is no prophylaxis, treatment or vaccine to protect against ZIKV infection.  Therefore, preventive personal measures are recommended to avoid mosquito bites during the daytime.  Local transmission of ZIKV has not been reported in the continental United States.  Pregnant women in any trimester should consider postponing travel to areas of Zika virus transmission.Read More
