Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

Cathy Mackay, director of the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging/NY Connects, has announced that Cattaraugus County has been awarded 840 Senior Farmers Market coupon booklets valued at $16,800. Each booklet contains five $4.00 coupons ($20.00 value), and can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at participating Farmers Markets in Cattaraugus County.

The Cattaraugus County Museum will be open on additional summer Saturdays

Due to the number of people who have expressed interest in visiting the museum to see our exhibits, particularly the Randolph Mammoth, but cannot make it during our regular weekday hours, we will be adding some Saturday hours to our schedule this summer.

The museum will be open on the first and third Saturdays during July and August from 10-2.

The museum is located in the Stone House, 9824 Route 16 in Machias.  Our regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 9-4.  Contact us at 716-353-8200 for any additional information.

Youth Baseball Field Project Grant Application

Several Youth Baseball Fields in Cattaraugus County are in dire need of repair, maintenance and/or upgrades. The Cattaraugus County Legislature has created a grant program to help offset the costs of these repairs. This funding is available to be used exclusively for the repair, maintenance and upgrade of fields within Cattaraugus County.

Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb and the members of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate the 62nd Session of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy upon their graduation from the basic course for police officers. Five Cattaraugus County residents completed the Basic Course for Police Officers academy training, which began in August 2016 and concluded June 15, 2017 at graduation.

Lyme Disease Fact Sheet - June 2016

Lyme Disease is an infectious disease caused by bacteria (Borrelia burgdorferi) transmitted by the young (nymph) and adult deer tick (Ixodes scapularis).  It can cause symptoms affecting the skin, nervous system, heart and/or joints of an individual.
