TAKING BACK UNWANTED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS SEPTEMBER 27
Little Valley – On September 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its ninth opportunity in four years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to the sites listed below.
The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging will be assisting individuals age 60 and over with HEAP applications. Senior citizens in Cattaraugus County who received a regular HEAP benefit last HEAP season will receive an application by mail this year.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a hunters’ education class for the gun portion only on the following dates and time: Monday, September 22, 2014 and Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 4:30 to 10:00 p.m. The class will be held at theSalamancaJr./Sr.
The Cattaraugus County Board of Elections has consolidated election districts from 55 to 51 and has released sample ballots for the upcoming Primary Elections on September 9, 2014.
Employees from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Watch the video and the reactions of the employees, who then went on to challenge the Sheriff's Departments from Erie, Chautauqua and Allegany Counties! The Benelovent Fund also donated $250 to help fight this progressive neurodegenerative disease.
