The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office proudly announces on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017 Sheriff Timothy Whitcomb was sworn in as President of the NYS Sheriffs’ Association.  Sheriff Whitcomb was joined at the ceremony by several local officials, current and former. Holding the Bible during the oath was Retired Sheriff Jerry Burrell, who served Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office from 1985-1996.

The Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism is seeking input on recreational trails in the County. A survey prepared by Barton and Loguidice, consultants for the County, is available on the Cattaraugus County’s website. Any person or group interested in existing trails and new trails in the County are asked to complete the survey.

It is with a heavy heart that we must pass along funeral arrangements and procession information for Walter Reisner.  For those that didn't know Walt, he was the Owner and COO of Trans Am Ambulance Services for over 30 years.  He was integral in the creation of the ALS fly car program for Cattaraugus County and the creator of the entire Trans Am Ambulance Services company which remains a vital part of our EMS system.

Anyone in Cattaraugus County with damages from the flooding that began yesterday, January 12, 2017, is encouraged to report damages to the Office of Emergency Services. We will need the name of the property owner, list of damages and estimates to repair the damages (quotes from contractors, receipts from purchases to replace items), and pictures of damages and lost items.

Notice Of Annual 30-Day Period To Request Inclusion Of Agricultural Land Within An Existing Agricultural District In Cattaraugus County

Agriculture and Markets Law Section 303-b was enacted in 2003 to provide for the designation of an annual 30-day period during which landowners may submit requests for the inclusion of predominately viable agricultural land into an existing certified agricultural district. Cattaraugus County has designated January 2 through January 31, 2017 as this 30-day period.
