Probation and Firearms
- Have ever been convicted of a felony, and do not possess a Certificate of Relief from Disabilities or a Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Have ever been convicted of a Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence, as defined in US Code 922(g)(9).
- Are currently the subject of an existing, valid, Order of Protection, as defined in US Code 922(g)(8).
This applies to ALL firearms, including “black powder” rifles. It excludes only antique firearms manufactured prior to 1898.
These are FEDERAL regulations, which apply to all jurisdictions in and out of New York State, including any and all federally-recognized Indian Reservations.
