Composting conserves water, reduces reliance on fertilizers and helps you grow healthier plants. With little expense and effort, you can compost most food waste, yard waste, and paper waste. Small quantities of yard waste are accepted at some transfer stations in Cattaraugus County. Ask attendant for a composting brochure.

TVs, displays, printers and other electronics may be dropped off at any of Cattaraugus County's Transfer Stations for FREE!
Household Hazardous Waste
Includes items that are toxic and should not be included in your trash. Contact the Cattaraugus County DPW for the next Household Hazardous Waste Day at 938-9121 or 1-800-248-7719, ext. 2486.
Paint can be dried up with kitty litter and disposed of with your regular garbage.

The recycling specifications set forth in this recycling guide are guidelines for Cattaraugus County transfer station users only.
Individuals may dispose of up to two car tires or two light truck tires at a cost of $2.00 each and $4.00 each, respectively, during regular operating hours at the transfer stations. Fees will be collected through transfer station tickets. Larger tires accepted only on scheduled tire collection days. See attendant for dates.
Yard Waste Disposal
You can compost yard waste in your own backyard, or you can take small quantities of leaves, grass clippings, and brush to your local transfer station (excluding Conewango). Large quantities of yard waste or branches in excess of three inches in diameter can be taken to the Five Points or Farwell composting sites.
User Fee Schedules
Available at transfer stations. User Fee Tickets are available at many locations throughout Cattaraugus County.
Disposal of properly prepared recyclables is free to individual users of the transfer stations.
What Can I Do With:
Call 1-800-8-Battery or check with local stores that sell rechargeable batteries. Non-rechargeable batteries can be thrown away with your garbage.
