Disaster Assistance Center Opens

The Cattaraugus County Office of Emergency Services along with representatives of the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services, Department of Aging, Department of Health and Community Services will be available at the newly opened Disaster Assistance Center from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4th and Sunday, December 5th at 1 Leo Moss Drive (Cattaraugus County Office Building) Olean; for residents in need of assistance related to this weeks flooding. Concerned residents may contact the Disaster Operations Center at 716-938-2244

Allegheny River has Crested

The Cattaraugus County Office of Emergency Services reports that the Allegheny River has crested at both the Salamanca and Olean river gauge locations. Residents should continue to use caution when faced with high water scenarios in and around their homes.

A State of Emergency remains in effect for the Village of Allegany and the Town of Portville.

Disaster Operations Center opened due to States of Emergency

Update: As of December 7, 2010 these roads are no longer closed.

The Cattaraugus County Office of Emergency Services is operating a Disaster Operations Center as a result of localized regional flooding. In cooperation with the National Weather Service, the Office of Emergency Services is closely monitoring the situation throughout Cattaraugus County.

A State of Emergency has been declared for the Village of Allegany and the Town of Portville.

Due to the flooding Cattaraugus County has created two maps to aid residents and travelers.

Emergency Medical Classes

Cattaraugus County EMS is the CFR and EMT New York State Course Sponsor in the county.  This means that we coordinate and sponsor all CFR and EMT original and refresher training in Cattaraugus County.  Questions about and sign-ups for all CFR and EMT courses should be directed to the Office of Emergency Services by calling Robert Kuhn, County EMS Coordinator at (716) 938-2244.
