There will be a rabies clinic held at the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works garage in Little Valley.  This rabies clinic will be open from 9 am to noon on January 10, 2015.

Laboratories for Tick Testing

This download contains a list of private laboratories the will test ticks found on humans for the presence of pathogens.  Please note that disease transmission is dependent on many factors including species, life stage of the tick and length of time that the tick was attached.  The presence of pathogens in the tick does not necessarily mean that those pathogens were transmitted to the person bitten. There will be a rabies clinic held at the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works garage in Little Valley on January 10, 2015 from 9:00 am to Noon.

Rabies Vaccinations are required for ALL cats, dogs and domesticated ferrets by FOUR months of age (but not less than 12 weeks).

Cats and dogs are given a booster one year later and every three years thereafter. Ferrets must be vaccinated annually.

No charge for vaccination but donations accepted to help defray costs! Read more

There will be rabies clinics held at Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works garages in early September.  All three rabies clinics will be open from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

The Cattaraugus County Department of Health may conduct aerial spraying to kill mosquito larvae in breeding areas located in the townships of: Allegany, Carrollton, Great Valley, Olean, Portville and Salamanca.

Cattaraugus County Mosquito Spraying Areas - Map Viewer

The viewer below identifies areas within Cattaraugus County where larvicide spraying could occur.  Larvicide spraying only occurs when routine larvae monitoring indicates that an exceptional number of larvae are present in surface water bodies (i.e. ponds & wetlands) representing possible public health concerns.
