NYS Health Commissioner Bans Sale and Distribution of Dangerous Substances Marketed as Bath Salts

Albany, N.Y. (May 23, 2011) - New York State Commissioner of Health Nirav R. Shah, M.D. today issued a Commissioner’s Order to ban the sale and distribution of dangerous amphetamine-type substances marketed as “bath salts” that are sold over-the-counter and have resulted in hundreds of hospitalizations nationwide.

Important Change in the Monthly Child Safety Seat Program in 2011

The Cattaraugus County Child Safety Seat Program, sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office, Health Department and Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, will implement important new changes in 2011.

Beginning with the January 20, 2011 check, appointments will be required for the Fitting Station, conducted at the Allegany Fire Department on the third Thursday of every month.

Supervising Community Health Nurse

The selected applicant will be appointed on a provisional (temporary) basis until an appropriate examination is conducted. For permanent appointment, the selected applicant must place in the top three on the final eligible list.  The work involves supervising, instructing, and guiding nurses and auxiliary personnel in providing quality nursing services involving the planning, evaluation, and provision of nursing care in a variety of settings that provide guidance in health practice for individuals and families.
