SHERIFF TIMOTHY WHITCOMB ANNOUNCES PARTICIPATION IN SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM 

Cattaraugus County Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announced today that 31 children from the county are attending the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute’s 2014 Summer Camp.  The Sheriffs’ Summer Camp is designed to provide a solid recreational program combined with the development of a sense of good citizenship.

Little Valley, NY – Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announces the graduation of three Correction Officer Recruit Graduates from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Basic Academy for Correction Officers.  

The Basic Corrections Academy was facilitated by Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Correction/Training Division. The Academy consisted of 160 hours of classroom training, defensive tactics and first aid/CPR.

The incumbent provides nursing care to mentally ill and emotionally disturbed inmates; leads prescribed individual or group therapy sessions as part of specific therapeutic procedures; dispenses prescribed medications and generally observes inmates to detect abnormal behavior patterns.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office Host to Volunteer Fire Police School

Sheriff Whitcomb proudly announces 63 local fire department members completed a Fire Police Training School over the weekend. The training was hosted by the Sheriff’s Office and instructed by Lt. David Schuman and Training Coordinator, Christa Heckathorn. During the 21 hour course, participants received instruction covering the Fire Service, Legal Issues for Fire Police, Vehicle and Traffic Laws, Personal Protective Equipment, Flagger Training, and Safety/Traffic Management.

NYS Boaters Safety Course
