Alarm System Regulations for Cattaraugus County can be downloaded from the link below.

The local law regulating alarms in Cattaraugus County was based on a model ordinance that was developed by the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. This model ordinance and variations of it has been used in many municipalities across the county in an effort to reduce the instance of false alarms. The model ordinance was reviewed and revised by the Alarm Advisory Committee to meet the needs of Cattaraugus County. Read more

Alarm Registration and False Alarm Enforcement

In 2001, the Legislative Leadership of Cattaraugus County was made aware of a growing problem with false burglar and fire alarms. The ever-increasing number of false alarms has been having a negative impact on Emergency Services in Cattaraugus County for some time. In response to this problem, the Legislature created a committee to study the problem and make recommendations to help alleviate the impact the false alarms are having. Read more

Non-Emergency Calls

The Cattaraugus County 9-1-1 Center answers calls not only on dedicated 9-1-1 telephone lines, but also on non-emergency lines for the Sheriff's Office, and on other lines designated to receive calls intended for several local police agencies, the County Health Department and Department of Public Works, and from alarm companies. How 9-1-1 Works

The enhanced 9-1-1 Service you have come to expect on your land-line (wired) telephone in your house has been in place in Cattaraugus County since late 1992. Several years of work went in to appropriately designating road names and addressing all structures. Addressing work is a continual process that is done by our office in coordination with the various towns, cities and villages in the county. Read more

Many victims live in fear that the criminal offender who victimized them may someday return to do so again. For these victims and their families and friends, it is important to know if that offender is incarcerated in a correctional facility - and to know if and when that offender is released from custody. Visiting an Inmate of the Cattaraugus County Jail

Visitation Hours:  Tuesday and Friday 11:45am-3:45pm and 5pm-8pm

All visitors will be required to show photo I.D. Read more

The Cattaraugus County Jail is a maximum security 150 bed facility. It houses both sentenced and un-sentenced male and female, minor (age 16 -18) and adult prisoners. Read more
